Pimenta Da Dog Pepper is an exotic variety that originates from the Czech Republic. Known for its vibrant colors and striking appearance, this pepper is not just visually appealing but also extremely hot.
We grew a couple of Pimenta Da Dog plants, and one came out as an off pheno with its pod sizes and color growth variations. This off pheno is likely either an unintentional cross or simply an off pheno that reverted back to its parental genetics, namely the Trinidad Dog, which is very similar in appearance with the limited research available.
The lovely pod colors and shapes on this off pheno were simply t0o lovely for us to discard and not offer to the public. We plan to grow it again in 2025 to see what happens and to see whether or not it changes further or remains the same. Either way, we view growing it as a win-win for 2025.
With its distinctive taste and heat, this superhot variety can elevate everything from salsas to marinades. It adds a unique kick, making it a favorite for spice lovers. Incorporating this pepper into your recipes allows you to explore new culinary adventures.
Start the seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before your last frost date. When transplanting outdoors, ensure they are given plenty of sunlight and warm temperatures.
