Charleston Cayenne is a vibrant and flavorful pepper known for its exceptional heat and distinctive taste. Ideal for those who appreciate a spicy kick, this pepper is a must-grow for any pepper enthusiast.
This pepper variety is often referred to as Carolina Cayenne, but it’s different.
The Carolina Cayenne was developed by Clemson University and the USDA in 1986; the Charleston Cayenne was developed by the U.S. Vegetable Laboratory in Charleston, South Carolina, USA, in 1981. That said, the Charleston Cayenne is hotter than the Carolina Cayenne.
Tip: The normal foliage color of this variety is yellowish green. Please make a note to not mistake this characteristic during the grow season as a symptom of nitrogen deficiency.
